LOR
two teachers(both are my favorite teachers of high school)
one USC faculty member

USC SCA 2014 here.

Many branches of SCA - Crit Studies, Production, Animation, Interactive - … which?

Are you or are you not a SCion (legacy)? That will boost your chances slightly.

But honestly, academically you’re ehhhhh - I hope you have a brilliant creative sample and excellent essays for the SCA app. I feel like SCA is willing to pull strings for applicants with high amounts of creative potential and have them placed in SCP (Structured Curriculum Program), which really isn’t that big of a deal other than the fact that you have to wast four credits to take EDPT110.

Just to give you an idea, though, here are my personal stats:
High school GPA: 3.67
SAT: 2190
And I was placed in SCP. Considering I went to one of the top high schools (if not THE top high school) in the country, I was ****ed. I’m personally finding college easy.

You certainly have the “pedigree”, being from a long line of family members having attended. I still have to think that you’re somewhat of a reach, though, given your stats and resume. Good luck and fight on!

I’m applying for production. I had my writing sample (I chose the short dialogue) reviewed by my Film teacher at school so i’m hoping its good.

also i read somewhere that around 20something% of the freshmen acceptances are from family legacies. is that true?

You still need the stats to indicate a chance to succeed in the curriculum or the school won’t admit you. The competition to get in is severe. To be brutally honest, I think you will not be offered admission, but you never know.

Being a legacy indicates potential future donors. Those are different things.

SCA is definitely able to pull strings if they think you’re talented enough. It’s really all down to the work sample and creative stuff you have to do for the app. I got by somehow with a 2.7 unweighted GPA and a 2090 SAT & 32 ACT. It’s almost all in the potential/talent/etc. Have hope!
