Thanks for reading :)

Since I already calculated your GPA on the other thread

for people trying to help purple out

she has a 3.44 (weighted)

-USC - reach
-UCLA - reach
-Pomona - not sure
-Duke - high reach
-University of Virginia - no
-University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - no
-University of Michigan - no
-NYU - possibly, I heard they rank SAT>grades
-Notre Dame - doubt it
-Northwestern - not sure
-University of Florida - no
-University of Miami - no
-Clemson University - not sure
-Vanderbilt - no

most of these schools have an average of 4.0 for incoming freshmen
you need to come up with a list of safety schools in case

Oh also like I said in the other thread, if you have a legitimate and good reason you could sway them with your 2300 & your junior year scores, compared to the fresh & soph scores

I’m sorry, 4.0?

I’m applying to NYU, UMich and even with weighted, most of the students do not have 4.0 weighted.

In purple’s case, it’s been an upward curve. Sure, freshmen sucked, but they will see that purple improved a lot over the years.

In my personal opinion, those no’s should be high match/low reach, depending on the universities.

Also, you have great good EC. But if you had a leadership position, captain or whatsoever, add those in. Colleges like Duke will look for those.

Lastly, if you have a reason for the freshmen scores, make sure to explain in the college application (if there is such a section. if not, talk with your guidance counselor, and let everything out. They are there to help you out, not to scare you. Remember: they will also write your rec. You want them to know that you exist, and you care).

^^ 2.25 freshmen and 3.34 sophomore

her GPA is significantly lower unweighted, and Umich especially looks @ the unweighted GPA compared to weighted.

Average unweighted GPA for umich is 3.8, so that exceeds 4.0 weighted I believe

As for NYU, I know the average is 3.6 with high SAT scores, so that could be a reasonable chance for OP

No, average UW for UMich is lower than that.

Also, increasing curve comes into effect.

even unweighted, it came out to be 4.0 from 2.25. I would say that’s a dramatic difference, and purple actually did well in school after realizing that her grades were bad.

If you want to ignore the effect, then go ahead.

oh wait, did you put Duke below UMich?

All I can say is, lol.

Pomona! Wow! That would be great! Good luck!

Have you calculated your UC GPA ? You don’t I have to worry about freshman grades, but probably can’t use honors classes toward a weighted GPA. Actually, it may not matter because extra points are capped at 8, and you have 8 points from junior AP’s.

UCGPA

http://www.californiacolleges.edu/admissions/california-state-university-csu/gpa_calculator.asp</a></p>

Here is the UCLA admitted students profile.

[Profile of Admitted Freshmen, Fall 2009 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_fr/Frosh_Prof10.htm)

Deadline is 11/30 for UC’s, and you need two subject tests (not math I)

you may have a little bit of a chance. I received something from Umich that say they calculate their "Michigan GPA GPA from your 10th and 11th grade, so freshman year literally gets thrown out. I doubt the other schools do that though.

All i’m trying to say is that she needs some safety schools because all of the schools she listed will be tough to get into.

yeah and I have no idea why I put that it’s easier to get into duke than florida, miami, vandy, mich & uva

my bad

^^EDIT: If what the above poster said to me is true, then you have a 4.045 weighted GPA, thus giving you a great shot for Umich

Thanks guys. Can you recommend any safety schools?
