SCEA - Class of 2011

Hey I have a question. Suppose in my long essay I write about my most meaningful activity. In the short, activities essay, could I possibly write about my next most meaningful activity? Or would I have to write about my most meaningful activity again? Arghh....

ok guys I'm a lurker who has finally decided to add himself to this thread

I just finished my intellectual essay, and am so proud (of finishing, not of the essay) I have to post about it here! Only I'm 772 - read: half my essay - over the limit so I got some major editing to do. Here comes the fun part.. hehe..

Btw, we know who the smartest people on that list are because those are the ones that are working on their essays and apps instead of hanging out online.. lol..

Note: After browsing the rest of CC, I feel that the Stanford thread is the safest area...There's a lot of racist attitude in some of the other threads!!! ducks under bed

Yay for SCEA '11-ers! <3

Lol, we're so awesome that we don't discriminate like that. :D

To all you new "SCEA '11-ers" (in pyleela's words, because I don't think anyone actually says SCEAers), put your name on the wiki!

h t t p : / / w w w . h y p o t h e t i c . o r g / c c s t a n f o r d / ? p a g e n a m e = M a i n . S C E A R o s t e r

Lol, devaaki, for some reason, I remember that when I moved to MN, I was like, "Wow, nobody around here says 'disgusting.' Everything was called 'nasty' instead." :D I thought "pop" was a Texan thing only.

hey people whens the deadline for posting all our essays and crap online....?
is it nov1st as well..

what font are you guys using for the essay? @ skywalker: everything has to be postmarked for delivery to stanford by november 1st. all the essays and the extra-curricular section have to be sumitted before november 1st. just don't wait untl the last day... in case there are server issues, you might end up getting bumped down to RD.

does da font really matter.. fuzzylogic u make a gr8 point....

You know I really love how all of us create these fearful prospects like the server might go down on Nov 1st lol (aka we are anal). It really pushes us to do stuff. Don't get me wrong I love laid back people, just not too laid back like my friends lol.

I say disgusting. Though i did think people in Texas call everything "coke". Pop is more of a midwestern phenomenon I believe.

We're all a lil' paranoid. That's why I'm flying to SJ Nov. 1 and storming the admissions office on Galvez street (haha is anyone else uber lame and have the addresses memorized??!) with guns blazing.

I have the longitude and latitude of Stanford's Undergrad Office, rounded to the nearest billionth. I guess that beats your address =)

devaaki--for your question from yesterday, I'm doing the same thing (writing about my MAIN interest in the long essay and then talking about another important one in the short essay..) I think it's fine =)

Did anyone find out about the missing docs question that was brought up earlier?

Oh oops, I forgot to post about that. Sorry.

I called the Office of Undergraduate Admissions today, and the guy I talked to said that they'll be sending you a notice via e-mail after November 1st if you have missing documents. If you don't receive said e-mail, everything should be in order. However, they're not allowed to search for you in their database to check to see what materials they have received so far.

I'm doing the same thing as you, devaaki [and itida]. :] I'm writing about the most influential extracurricular I've had that has led me on the path I'm on, but my activity essay is more about what I learned the most from and where I've continuously had the most impact (my long essay activity took place over two weeks; my short essay, over two years).

I'm only writing about an activity on the activity essay.. I feel so unaccomplished now. And the activity is just one specific meaningful instance, not something that has shaped me. How are we supposed to define our most meaningful activity in 1600 characters? I just picked one.

about the mission documents:
I'm afraid that my college transcript might get lost, and then the adcom won't inform me of having any missing document when my high school transcript is on file. am I over-worrying?

Yeah.. I have too much to say for some, and not enough for others. Bah. I just wish they'd do away with limits, and expect us to turn in something reasonable ... lol.. then there'd be people who would send in short stories and novels or even autobiographies. Lol... nevermind, push back the limit just for me.... ;)

Hope everyone is having a good weekend/did well on SATs

I've got a couple questions...
Does anybody know if we have to get the October SAT scores rushed to Stanford?
And also, on this missing docs thing, my counselor sent in my school report a week before I submitted form 1, do you guys think/know if this means that they basically just throw away the school report since they wouldn't have had a file started for me yet? In other words, should I get another school report sent in?

I think it should be fine. There used to be a thread on here about someone who submitted his/her teacher recs before Form 1, and some 2010ers said that they had done the same thing with no negative consequences. :]
