<p>So it’s like EA but more restrictive. Why do they offer this if, based on all the comments about the early admissions process, there really is no benefit?</p>

<p>Well, you can only apply to one. It ensures that students are more likely to apply to their #1 choice. Therefore, colleges know the applicants are serious and can more seriously evaluate the application. It also, in some ways, gives the college a preview of applicants during the regular season.</p>
