Schedule advice for an AEM soph transfer

Hi everyone
I'm a sophomore transfer majoring in AEM.
I also hope to minor in East Asian Studies.
I have most of my distribution requirements out of the way and plan on finishing them in the spring.

For this fall, I am sure I want to take these classes:
JAPAN4401 Advanced Japanese 4cr.
AEM2210 Financial Accounting 3cr.
AEM2400 Marketing 3cr.
AEM2500 Enviro & Resource Econ 3cr.

Might also want to take AEM1210 Entrepreneurship Speaker Series (1cr).
Anyone know whether this class is any good? The median grade for the class was pretty high.

I feel like I should take another class but can't find anything that seems to suit me.
The four classes I've listed are all on MWF, so I want my last class to be a TR class.
The class doesn't necessarily have to satisfy my minor/major reqs.

If anyone's got any good suggestion for a class, please let me know!!

I had some friends who were AEM majors (and transfers, actually) and took the Entrepreneurship Speaker Series. They said it was interesting, but often complained about having to go on Monday nights (is that still when it’s offered?). For the most part, the lectures seemed engaging and worthwhile, though.

i took the entrepreneurship spkr series. didn’t like it bc i’m not interested in entrepreneurship - but if you’re into that, it could be valuable.

i just… don’t really like pedro.

I also knew a lot of people who took the series class too-- they all hated that it was at night, as well. If you are living on West (which I am assuming since you’re a transfer…) it really is a hassle to go back up the hill after you’ve already came back down for the day.

I’ve also heard nothing but complaints about Pedro…apparently he has a really weird testing style or something.

I took AEM 1220 (Entreprenuership in the Life Sciences) this spring. The lectures were interesting but not good enough imo to justify trekking to Kennedy at 7:30 pm. Yeah it’s an easy A, but it was a huge pain in the ass, I’d never recommend it to anyone unless they were hardcore about entreprenuership.

Thanks for all the advice on speaker series!
Probably won’t take that class then lol.

Anyone got advice on good classes I could take?
I’m thinking of Chinese Film?

Ok…so I’ve done a bit more research and came up with this schedule.

AEM2210 Financial Accounting 3cr.
AEM2400 Marketing 3cr.
AEM2500 Enviro & Resource Econ 3cr.
JAPAN4401 Advanced Japanese 4cr.
DSOC1101 Intro to Sociology 3cr.
ILRHR2660 Essential Desktop Apps 2cr.

Total: 18cr.

Can anyone give me some advice? Is this manageable?

marketing is a joke. seriously. just go to class and you’re gold.

fin actg is a lot of work if you want to do well - unless you just pick up accounting really fast, then you’re lucky. don’t make the mistake of choosing a friday afternoon section like i did. it sucks when it’s the friday before a break and you want to go home early but can’t bc you have to hand in your financial accounting hw.

dsoc 101 is a joke too - you watch the wire a lot in class and don’t really talk about much besides class-ism - or so i’ve heard from my friends who’ve taken the class.

japanese is a lot of work - but all advanced languages are, especially if they’re focusing more on the nitty-gritty specifics of grammar.

essential desktop apps is a joke. all of my ILR friends hated that class bc it was so boring. if you want to take an excel/comp apps course - take the hotel one instead. that actually teaches you about excel.

haven’t taken AEM2500 yet, and don’t know if i am, given that i don’t need it to fulfill reqs (i think…).

I don’t know why you’d take Essential Desktop apps, especially since it’s S/U only nowadays. If you’re competent enough to be on an online forum, you probably know enough from that class.

Lol, no Essential Desktop then.
Thought it might be an easy A & good way to learn something about excel (have no idea how to use that)

@cc102
Which hotel school class are you talking about?

While DSOC 1101 is relatively easy, it has gotten harder in the past year and a half due to that reputation (much in the same way that PSYCH 1101 has). But you should still take it.
