Hey there!
I currently am looking for some solid advice as to what would be considered an overload schedule for a first semester freshman. I just went to the first FASET session, and these are the classes I am currently signed up to take:
MATH 1501, ENGL 1102, HPS 1040, BIOL 1510, GT 1000 (not really my choice) = 14 credits

I am a Psychology major/Pre-med student who also wants to take a foreign language for about two years, then study abroad because it's something that I've always wanted to do. Would you suggest that I add one more class (like Elementary German I) to my first semester schedule to start early or should I save it for later? Would 17 credits be too much?

That really depends on the person. Some people are comfortable with 17-18 credits per semester, while some people like to stick to lower numbers.

Would you feel more comfortable with 16 than 17? You can always drop GT1000 … it’s not actually required.

GT 1000 is NOT required. If your parents are trying to make you take it for whatever reason, just drop it without them knowing. I mean, it’s an easy A and just busy work, but you’re not required to take it. Don’t let anyone make you think it is.

Pick the degree you plan on taking and follow the left hand menu. It will give you a recommended schedule easy semester based on graduation requirements. Modify as you see fit.

maea has it right. I never took more than fifteen hours a semester, but I had a roommate who thrived on twenty-one hours a semester and another whose best semester performance came when he took six classes at twenty-hours (five As, one C).

I don’t recommend GT 1000 because it really is just busy work. They don’t teach you anything you can’t learn from asking upperclassmen or users here at CC even.
