Schedule change

I was admitted to the Harvard class of 2021 under the REA program. This semester, I have thoroughly disliked one of my classes, civil engineering. Unfortunately, the class is year long. What are the potential repurcussions of switching to a different class? I was planning to take a ceramics course next semester to fill a graduation requirement for fine art credits, but my best option for replacing civil engineering is painting. Should I switch, and take two art classes second semester, just tough it out in civil engineering, or switch into painting and try to replace ceramics with a more substantial, difficult class?

Contact the admissions office. They admitted you with the assumption that you are taking civil engineering. It may not lead to a rescindance, but i would ask to be on the safe side.

It’s not even being on the safe side - you are required to notify Harvard of any schedule changes. They may not care, in which case take whatever course you want. Or, they may have an issue with it, in which case they will tell you that it is an issue.

Ask admissions and tell them that you would like to take both painting and ceramics, due to an interest in applied art that has deepened. Did you tell them you want to major in engineering? It is fine to change your mind. I think it will be fine and you will be able to take both art courses. In fact Harvard may encourage it. But tell them, yes.
