I was looking through the schedules of my community college and I noticed that if u read the class listings there are 2 letters near the name of the classes. For example, the Math 222 (precalc) course has three available times but each states a different section like AA, AS, AB…
I just want to know what these letters mean. Will choosing one affect UC articulations? I provided the schedule in the link below just go to the table of contents to the left, click the drop down menu fall class listings, and click mathematics.

Skyline has a advising office. Check with them.
@CALiiiii The different letters are probably just used by the school for scheduling purposes (for my school they used numbers for the sections. your school uses letters). I don’t think any specific section will affect UC articulations (ie. you will get the same credit for choosing an online version of a class versus an in person version of a class)

@CALiiiii The letters represents different sections of a class. Sometimes there are more than one section in a class. For example my Physics 270 class at Skyline has 6 sections of the same class, where 3 are regular classes and the other 3 are honors. There are 3 different lab times with 2 sections in each, one honors and one regular section in each lab. All students, regardless of the section they’re in, attend the same Physics 270 lecture, but different sections have different lab times.
In the 2 letters of the class section, the second letter can indicated different types of classes:
AH, the H represents an Honors class,
AK, the K represents a Kababayan class,
AQ, the Q represents a ASTEP class,
AY, the Y represents a FYE class,
AI, the I represents a CIPHER class, etc.
The title of the class usually indicates if they are different from regular classes, such as “Physics 270 AX, Physics with Calculus III” and “Physics 270 BH, Physics with Calculus III - Honors”. There really isn’t a need to look at the section letters. If you’re looking for specific community classes such as ASTEP or Honors classes, it will be indicated in the name of the course.
The letters themselves will have no impact regarding the UC articulations. If ASSIST states you need to take Physics 270, then taking a regular or honors class will satisfy the requirement, as long as it’s Physics 270.
Basically the section letters don’t mean much, especially if you’re not in one of the above programs.
Thank you for the responses!
