Schedule for pre-med (deferring chemistry)

Hi, I've been trying to work out my freshman schedule for Cornell for about 2 hours now and I think I got it down. This is what I have so far:

BIOG 1440 - Comparative Physiology
28233 209 Discussion Fr 12:20PM - 1:10PM To Be Assigned
27405 001 Lecture MoWe 9:05AM - 9:55AM Uris Hall G01

BIOG 1500 - Investigative Biology Lab
27404 001 Lecture Tu 9:05AM - 9:55AM Kennedy Hall 116
27489 418 Laboratory Th 1:25PM - 4:25PM Comstock Hall-Academic II 1104

MATH 1920 - Multivariable Calculus Engrs
2733 001 Lecture MoWeFr 8:00AM - 8:50AM Malott Hall 253
2747 204 Discussion TuTh 8:00AM - 8:50AM Snee Hall Geological Sci 1150

PE 1445 - Outdoor Beginning Tennis
MoWeFr 3:35PM - 4:25PM To Be Determined

SPAN 2070 - Spanish for Med&Health Pro
MoWeFr 10:10AM - 11:00AM McGraw Hall 365

I don't know if it's "right" or not though. On Tuesday's and THursdays I'm going to have to rush a bit from class to class but they're not that far it seems according to the map. I'm taking a language to help me for my chances in med school and also because I'm interested in Spanish, but I'm also delaying Chemistry. I mean I know I take the MCAT's in the spring semester of Junior Year but by deferring chem until sophomore year will I be at a disadvantage?

That means I won't take biochem until senior year and I'll start learning physics and organic chem junior year. Has anyone else chosen this path, or should I just take chem and everything freshman year.

I’m taking Chem 207, Biog 1440 and 1550, and NS 1150 and 1160, in addition to a PE and FWS. I think I’m also in a couple of your classes.

What’s NS?

And oh you chose two Bio courses for your first semester? The packet said to choose one now and one later, that’s why I’m only doing comparative physiology now.

Sailor are you in engineering (doesn’t seem like it)? If not, what’s your reasoning behind 1920? It’s overkill for premed requirements and isn’t exactly the most straightforward course.

Nutritional Science. :)

Nope, I’m in the College of Arts & Sciences majoring in biology. I thought 1920 was the next step after Calc BC (which I took in HS). Is it the wrong class to take for premed?

I talked with some of the advisors and they said that it was pretty much an engineering math as well so I’m almost sure I’m gonna drop it since it’s not required for med school and it’ll just put pressure on me.

What math courses are you guys taking (for the premed majors out there).

glad you cleared that one up about 1920^

I’m taking 1120, probably. My school didn’t offer BC. :<

I have a question about submitting my AP scores, though. It’s not too late to submit my scores right now, is it? Also, it’s $15 to have all my AP scores sent to Cornell, right?

Calculus III or Linear Algebra might be a better option for someone who has credits for Calculus II.

BIOG 1500 - Investigative Biology Lab
27404 001 Lecture Tu 9:05AM - 9:55AM Kennedy Hall 116
I’m in that lecture!!!

^ lol good luck finding each other. I dare you guys to yell COLLEGE CONFIDENTIAL during the first lecture.

haha i’ll yell COLLEGE if Sail0r will yell CONFIDENTIAL!

What course number is Calc III? It’s not the 1920 course is it lol…and right now I have my math courses narrowed down to Finite Mathematics for the Life/Social Sciences, Linear Algebra w/ Applications, and the Biology Statistics course (3010).

Hmm…suggestions from anyone who’s taken these?

Lol we don’t have to do that (and be labeled nerds hah) I’m sure I’ll meet you :p

I’d use the class search in the student center if I were you (as well as the Mathematics major page). I’m guessing pre-meds only need to do a certain amount of math. Also, Calc III is 2130 I believe.
