I am a freshman in high school right now and I need some help deciding my courses for that year. For 10th grade I plan to take:
AP Calculus AB
Physical Education - Grade 10 (Required)
Chemistry - (Required)
Honors Spanish 3
Honors English 2 (Same thing as Honors English 10)
World History or AP World History
As you can see by my schedule, I already have a lot on my plate and my main dilemma is between choosing to do regular World History or AP World History. Based off of my other classes, do you think I can still maintain good grades with this schedule even if I take AP World History? Will colleges like it more if I am challenging myself like this?
Nobody here knows you, your academic abilities, or the demands of your particular HS so it is impossible to predict what courseload you can successfully manage. I’d suggest you seek advise from your guidance counselor and current teachers.
Do you like history? Reading and writing? My sophomore is currently taking APUSH (AP statistics, pre-cal honors, Latin IV honor, biology honor, English 10 honor, similar course load?) and really enjoys it, he also thinks it helps a lot with his critical thinking/writing. He loves history and enjoys reading historical books. One of his classmates dropped APUSH this semester and is now doing regular us history, if that is an option (dropping to regular from AP), then I think you might want to give AP a try?
