Topic: ANALYZING PUBLIC CONTROVERSY

I really wanted to take something in PPS but the only class available conflicted with Econ. So I decided to take something in poli sci. Would this work out all right if I want to major in Public Policy and minor in Econ? Also, would Friday be too heavy if I have three classes almost back to back? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated :)

yeah- that's absolutely fine for what you ultimately want to study. because of popularity of the pps dept, most first semester pps-major freshmen don't take anything other than econ or stat.

i personally can't do the back-to-back-to-back fridays, but some people really don't mind it at all (esp. b/c your friday classes start at a great time)

The classes themselves look fine, but is there any other discussion section of Econ that fits into your schedule? I've never had a class in Trent, but everyone I know who has says it's really annoying - plus you'd have a chance to give yourself more of a break on your Fridays. I think it'll just be annoying (even though you have 35 minutes) to have to get from Gross Chem to Trent...you'd basically have to either catch the C-3 leaving Gross Chem, or you'd have to walk all the way to the west bus stop, find a C-2, and get there. Also, the trip should take about....20 minutes, I'd think...which leaves you with this awkward 15 minute break during which you don't have enough time to go back to your room, so I guess you'd basically just grab a really quick bite to eat (if lines aren't too long). Anyway, yeah - my only suggestion is to find a different section for Econ - or at least a section that meets at the same time but in a building on West.

You'll love your Tuesdays and Thursdays, though. Only one class each day that doesn't start until 1:15 and meets on East? That sounds great.

I had 4 classes on fridays last semester. It's doable, but not a whole lot of fun (granted, one class was a chem recitation and another was a bio discussion and the fourth class was 2 hours after the other three). I agree with finding a new econ section... I have heard that trent is annoying.

Unless they changed the route, I don't think the C-3 goes by Trent on it's way from Science Drive, so you would have to walk all the way to west to catch a C-2, like bandcampgirl said, which, in my opinion isn't fun. Plus you have to worry about C-2's running late, and even though 35 minutes is a long time it might end up being less than you think.

Yeah-- my friends had to get from Gross Chem to Trent last semester with even less time than the OP. They managed just fine even with no C-3. I had class in Trent with nothing before it or nothing after it, and sometimes it was a huge pain, but on nice days, I had a nice walk either there or back. You can easily get from Gross to main West in a few minutes, even pick up a to-go lunch somewhere if a line isn't ridiculously long, and make the 1:15 C-2 and get to class w/ time to spare. It's not so bad if there's no alternative discussion section.

C1's go directly from east to west campus, along Campus Drive. They run every 2-3 minutes on weekdays until 8pm, and occasionally you can find one on the weekends, but from my experience hardly ever.

C2's go from east to west, through central campus, passing Trent as we've been discussing. They run ever 15 minutes weekdays from (I think) 7am-2am and then on weekends from I believe 7 am to 4 am.

C3's go from east campus, down Towerview (past Crowell Quad, Cameron, Wilson, Sanford, etc), down Science drive (Gross Chem, Biology, Physics, LSRC, BC, etc), the pack up Science Drive. On the way back to east it takes a shorter route through Central. They run ever 15 minutes from East Campus/Physics building as well, on weekdays from 7 am-8pm. C3's don't stop on west.

C1s have the nighttime route on Fri and Sat nights after 10pm... and sometimes by some struck of magic you find one on a weekend or on a weeknight late... but those are rare.
