Right now i'm trying to figure out how i would like to schedule my classes. I'm trying to avoid Friday classes if possible or at least take one friday early class and the rest tuesday and thursday classes. as a result i have a heavier tuesday and thursday schedule...would upperclassmen recommend against this? or is it do able? should i try and even out my schedule more? opinions would be a great help thanks.

I hate having a lot of T/Th classes because they are longer and just seem to drag on and on. I try not to have more than two but that’s usually not really possible. If by heavier you mean 3 classes you’re probably fine. 4 or more would be pretty bad, unless some of them are shorter 2 credit classes or something. Having few or no friday classes is pretty nice but it’s just not worth it if you’ve got to take 4 classes on T/Th.

yeah most likely my schedule have 3 classes in a row on tuesday and thursdays like from 9 to 1:15. i’m not too worried about the length of the classes because my high school does have block scheduling so it shouldn’t be too much of an adjustment and then one monday wednesday friday class in the early morning and a lab on monday afternoon
i’m not sure if having 3 classes in a row on tuesday and thursday would be too much. especially gong without lunch. man this scheduling stuff is hard!!

I always used to try to cram as many classes as I can into as few days as I can. I hated having 1 or 2 hour breaks between classes, because they usually just get wasted. Having one or two free or very light weekdays made my schedule pretty flexible for other things.

I wouldn’t go without lunch though.

you can eat lunch whenever you can. noon isn’t lunch time for everyone lol.

After the first semester, scheduling is pretty easy. I just hope you taking what you have to take your preferred professors. Having class right after the other is a pain though. I learned to avoid that.

You still need time for lunch though. I know some people who had classes from 9am to 5pm straight without any breaks.

yeah i tried to use recommendations and ratemyprofessor.com to choose my teachers…which is what making the days and times a bit complicated.
so these are my two options
MONDAY
core english (no exact times listed but hopefully 9 or 10ish)
chem lab (1:30-4:30)
TUESDAY
chem (9:00-10:15)
dance (10:30-1145
English (12:00-1:15)
WEDNESDAY
core english (no exact times listed but hopefully 9 or 10ish)
THURSDAY
chem (9:00-10:15)
dance (10:30-1145
English (12:00-1:15)
FRIDAY
core english (no exact times listed but hopefully 9 or 10ish)

or i switch the dance class to run on Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:00 to 1:15. the only disadvantage being that my friday would end later…
so idk advice?

from a high school perspective, that is such a kick ass schedule. You’re only taking 4 classes, that meet like 2 or 3 times a week? Is it like that for all schools?

well at my school i know my kids take 5 units. Yet they recommend that you only take 4 freshmen year…it def depends on the school i think.

I would not recommend more than 3 classes per day (assuming each class is 1 hour + and two days a week). Last semester I took all classes on T/Th and it was way too long of a day, even though I had 5 days off. This semester, I take 4 classes back to back on MW and 1 class on T/TH and it’s still too much. I’m usually ready to go after my third class. So that’s why I recommend no more than 3.

And let me clarify, by too much I mean too much for one day, not the courseload itself.

alright sounds good thanks to all for the advice!!

Hey Morgan, I might be jumping to conclusions but based on the fact that you’re taking CORE and mentioned the unit system… are you going to UR? If so, hardly anybody takes 5 units because that typically means 5 classes. Which is a lot. So it’s totally normal for you to take 4 units. 4 or 4.5 max is what most people do unless they do a last-minute major change and something like that and have to take lots of classes to graduate on time.

yeah im going to UR!!! so excited. oh really. i thought people normally took 5. hmmm i might have just made that up.
