For Econ 1, a discussion section has 22/30 people enrolled, according to ScheduleBuilder. There are 4 people on the waiting list however. Is there an error occurring with Schedulebuilder? If not, why won't Telebears just allow the 4 people into the class?

My impression as a freshman going through the process is that there are certain restrictions on courses.

Check at schedule.berkeley.edu. At the bottom of the page, there should be restrictions on the class. There is a waitlist because some of us fall into the restricted categories (which are closed), so we are blocked from enrolling in the class, so we are put on the waitlist.

If you have specifics on the course name/time, please post them so we could look over the details!

Hope that helped!

The course is Econ 1 and the discussion section is 114.

It states:

This course has no restrictions at the coursewide level.
Seats have been reserved for:
Instructor approval; a Class Entry Code is required to enroll in these seats (Open).
Students with a registration status of new or re-admitted (Full).
In the College of Letters And Science (Full).
Students with and a class level of Senior (Full).
Open seating (Full).

What does this mean for me?

It means the class is currently full for all of the people who fall under the categories you’ve mentioned, which is everyone who hasn’t gotten special permission from the prof. If you sign up, you’ll be placed on the waiting list.
