Thanks momofmv. I tried changing the times and he is still only signed up for 10 units. I’m not too worried. He has to have at least 12 units to be considered a full time student for insurance purposes, so I’m sure he will get it worked out. It is just really exciting to see the schedules.

Hey! I looked under grades and it has his complete schedule and you can see the teachers too. We are very excited because he has an excellent math teacher (according to polyratings) Linda Patton. Awesome!

CalMom05 I am sure he will have another class added or they will show him how to do it at SOAR. When is he going to SOAR? We are going on Aug. 2nd.

I would not be too concerned right now about having a schedule or the number of classes you currently have, however just so you know, last year there were a very small amount of people (freshmen) who ended up no classes. For some reason, they weren’t assigned a schedule or something weird happened. This happened to one guy in my WOW group. They had to crash classes on their first day of college which probably really sucked. I don’t know how/why this happened, but just be careful so you do not end up in this position.

Well, they did assign a 4th class for my son, but it was for a class he already had at a cc. Although they have his transcripts, they did not have time to input the information. He has to wait until SOAR to try to fix it. Oh well!

momofmv-we will be there Aug. 2nd for SOAR. I’ll look for you!

so we can change our schedules around, right?
because they put me in math 118 (precalculus algebra) when i’ve already taken that,
and i want to take math 141.
plus i don’t want to take night classes. yes i’m picky haha.

mandi they had me in that class for a little bit but they ended up changing it a day or 2 later. they might do the same for you :)

thanks for the encouraging words!
also, do you/anybody know what SSS is?
i know it stands for student support services,
and they had me apply and i just got a postcard in the mail for their lunch meeting when i’m at soar.
?

yea they sent me that postcard too, mines on 8/2 12: 15 to 12: 45

no i dont know much, i was like im just goin to apply anyways, see if i get in or not lol
so yea i guess ill just check it out on monday
are u going on monday too ? or some other day ?

Student Support Services program (SSS),a federally funded TRIO program of U.S. Department of Education, is designed to assist participants with enhancing their academic skills, increase their retention and graduation rates and promote graduate and professional school programs.

that’s what the internet said.

I also found this on the Cal Poly site:

SSS Eligibility

Selection for the Cal Poly SSS Program is partially based on students meeting at least one of the following federal requirements:

*First-generation college students (which means that the parent/guardian has not earned a four-year college degree at the time of enrollment)

*Students whose family income falls within the limits set by the U.S. Department of Education and verified by Cal Poly SSS

*College students with documented disabilities

Hey! So i can see my classes, but when i click on my class schedule it says i am not enrolled…
is it because i haven’t payed tuition yet or…?

i decided to not do the SSS. and my date was aug. 4th.

ella! i have the same thing, i think we both just don’t have official schedules…
you can view it under the ‘view week schedule’ thing right?

yea exactly!
hopefully it stays like that i have a pretty good one lol

mine sucks, so i’m definitely changing it haha.
glad yours is good.

My daughter’s schedule came up and she’s not pleased with Calculus 1. It’s not a math requirement for her major, although Pre-Calc/Trig is. However, she took that in community college and got an A. Wouldn’t that count as college credit, hence not needing to repeat it? Or do they still need to take a math class at Cal Poly regardless of major? They gave her Survey of Economics (Econ 201) which is part of the G.E requirement. Since she had AP Macroenomics in h.s. and got an A, she’s hoping this class won’t be *too *hard. The professor didn’t get great reviews, though. Her other class is Orientation to Kinesiology which is part of her major. Two of them are evening classes and one is late afternoon.

Hopefully, she’ll be able to swap that Calculus out for something else. She was looking at something like Oral Communication as part of a Public Speaking requirement. Then she can also consider an easier elective to add more units.

So, it looks like she needs to wait for SOAR before she can swap out any classes or until open enrollment, right?

Yes. She will have to meet with her advisor to pick classes and then register later, when it is her turn. From what I was told, the problem is that Cal Poly did not have time to look at the CC classes and update the Cal Poly records with credit for certain classes taken at the CC before they did the schedules, even if they had the CC transcripts. They have been too swamped, so there will be many freshman with CC credits that may impact schedules. So there will be movement.

just an fyi, my schedual has already changed 3 times in the last week, so you might want to check it daily if your interested, I went from 9 units to 12 in a day thankfully

They changed my daughter’s schedule from Calculus to Pre-Calculus/Trig. However, she took Pre Calc/Trig. in the community college and got an A. I read here where Cal Poly might not have applied everyone’s college credits yet. Question: If she took and passed this class at the c.college level already, would she need to repeat it again at Cal Poly? She said that if *some *type of math is required, then she would rather take Statistics even though she got an A in that, also at the community college. But, she wants to go to grad school for Occupational Therapy and it’s a pre-req. (she’s just not sure if the c.c. Stats class will count toward that.) Either way, she does *not *want to take Calculus if she doesn’t have to. And hope she doesn’t need to repeat Pre-Calc.
