does anyone know how to schedule a live audition for NYU Steinhardt? - Thanks!

Have you already applied? Pre-screening is required in most areas:
[Prospective Student Auditions - Auditions - NYU Steinhardt](http://steinhardt.nyu.edu/music/auditions/prospective/)

With almost any music program, questions like this are often easily answered by looking at the website, schools admission departments lay out the process to apply.

As Mezzo pointed out NYU, like most 1st and second tier music schools, requires a pre screen dvd with your application, and you will be given an audition date if they decide your pre screen was good enough to warrant a live audition. I suspect if you are applying for last year the pre screen dates for most schools have passed at this point.

Already applied and the pre-screen has been taken care of. We have looked thru NYU’s website as well as CC and can’t find details on how to schedule the live audition. I am hoping to hear from someone who has been able to schedule an audition.

For jazz, NYU’s jazz department sends you an email telling if you’ve passed the prescreen AND the date of your scheduled audition. Classical may be different.

Again, from the web site, if you were notified that you passed the pre-screening, instructions should have been included (at least according to the quote below). If you need further info, e-mail or call them asap. At this time of year, staff may be checking their e-mail nights and weekends, so I’d try that route first. Each department- listed on the undergrad admissions site- has a contact person listed.

“You will receive an e-mail notification that your materials have been received. After those materials have been reviewed you will be contacted if additional information is required. At that point you will be asked to schedule an in-person audition for which you must prepare materials according to the guidelines below. If you cannot travel to New York you will have the option of recording your audition and submitting it on either DVD or VHS videocassette.”

Invite email does include the date and time and the “plan” on how they run the show. They just came out today. Good luck!

If we’ve never heard back down that mean we didn’t pass the pre screen?

I would call them asap! NYU actually lost our friend’s son’s prescreen a couple of years ago. You should hear back.

Thank you! Got an email with appt schedule last night!
