Scheduling help

Hi, I'll be a freshman this fall.
I am opting for these classes
Phase 1: (9 units)
L & S C70V - Descriptive Introduction to Physics (Physical Sciences breadth)
MCELLBI C62 - Drugs and the Brain (Biological Sciences Breadth)
UGBA 10 - Principles of Business(Pre-Haas Requirement)

Phase 2: (8 unit)
SOCIOL 1 - Introduction to Sociology (for Sociology Major)
S ASIAN R5A - Great Books of India ( R&C requirement)

What do you think of this schedule, do you think I am phase 1 and 2-ing the correct classes. I want to do a simultaneous degree in Business and Sociology.
Thanks

Hm… I’d be a little wary of taking 17 units your first semester, especially since one of those classes is UGBA 10, and you really, really are going to want to get an A in that class.

Then again, I don’t know how intelligent you are or how hard your work ethic is.

Then which one do you think should I drop?
The thing is that this simultaneous degree scheduling can be tough so I want to really use my freshman year to the fullest. And yeah, I looked up the course structures and exams, I think I will be able to manage the classes except for the R&C classes, can;t seem to find any examples and stuff for them! Easier R&C? i wanted to take South Asian as I’m from India and I guess it should be easier for me

Note that L&S C70V = Physics C10 and MCB C62 = L&S C30T = Psychology C19. If the course appears full when you register, try checking the other listings – they are just different scheduling buckets of the same lectures and discussions.

R&C is fine; I’ve heard that the easiest R&C classes are usually in one of the foreign studies departments.

I would consider dropping one of the breadth courses: you have plenty of time to take breadth (8-9 semesters!)

However, I’d like to add that Discovery courses aren’t as hard as other courses, and so it is possible to do 17 units; you really need to evaluate your own abilities.

Exactly my point, though now I have decided I probably will take either Math 16 A or Physics, both are three units, will the courseload be too light with just 14?

I think it will be fine.

And if it does turn out to be too light, so what? You’ll have more free time, you’ll have more time to make friends first semester and hang out, you’ll have more time to check out extracurricular activities, you’ll have time to take a fun DeCal class, etc…
