Discovery courses choice and scheduling. Help required :)

Okay, so I have 2 questions. First of all, I would like to complete one breadth requirement in fall semester(freshman) either biological or physical, and I absolutely loved the discover courses, so I want your opinion on which is more interesting and also easy. Physics for the future presidents OR the planets OR Drugs and the brain. I would like you opinion on these courses if you have taken any. :D
2)I am an International students so now CalSo for me :|, Phase 1 in july, so can u recommend what to phase 1 in this schedule,
Intro to sociology
Intro to economics
Physics for future presidents OR The planets OR Drugs and the brain
Reading and composition South Asian R5A-Great books of India
Sociology 005 Evaluation of Evidence

If any of these are full then
Stat 21

Please advice. Thanks a lot

These L&S Discovery courses are cross listed as other courses. Each cross listing has different scheduling buckets, so if the course is full, check its cross listings.

L&S C30T (Drugs and the Brain) = Psychology C19 = Molecular and Cell Biology C62
L&S C70T (The Planets) = Astronomy C12 = Earth and Planetary Science C12
L&S C70V (Descriptive Introduction to Physics) = Physics C10

People can give you more suggestions if you indicate what major(s) you are interested in (sociology? economics?), and what advanced credit you have.

I would like to do a simultaneous degree in sociology and then later haas. So my schedule is going to be pretty tough and I am planning it beforehand to make it doable. Are the professors the same if I take a cross listing. Like Psychology C19 will have Presti too? Have heard pretty good stuff about him@

I’d be careful to make sure that you don’t overdo it your first semester. The general advice that I have both used and given is that, as a pre-Haas student, you want to generally avoid taking more than 2 Haas pre-reqs per semester, as those classes will be the focus of your semester academically since they have the greatest weight toward Haas (assuming your priority is Haas). That being said, you may want to learn more about the difficulty of Socio 5, and probably avoid Stats 21 in the fall as a back-up to Socio 5 or the discovery classes. Moreover, I would consider fulfilling your physical sciences breadth with Astro C10 with Filippenko; that class has a phenomenal reputation.

Cross listed courses are the same course, but with different scheduling buckets.

If you look in [Home Page - Online Schedule Of Classes](http://schedule.berkeley.edu) , you will see that L&S C30T, Psychology C19, and MCB C62 have the same lecture and discussion times, classrooms, and instructors. But you will see that half of the enrollment in the lecture and each discussion (312 in the lecture and 12 in each discussion) is allocated to MCB C62, while a quarter (156 in the lecture and 6 in each discussion) is allocated to each of L&S C30T and Psychology C19. The actual course will have up to 624 in the lecture and 24 in each discussion.
