So I have signed up to take the MCAT at the end of Jan. I am currently a junior. I took a couple of practice tests and I have been scoring in the low 30s. My target goal on the mcat is a 33 (or above). If for some reason I score above a 30 but not a 33, and I decide to do a retake, is it okay for me to retake it on July 5th? I would get my scores by August 5th. Or would that be too late. I will still apply to medical school with my mcat being in the low 30s in June(? I think that is when applications open) but they won't see my 33 (or above) until August 5th. The reason that I want to take it on July 5th is because it is hard for me to study for the retake next semester because I have a full/hard course load and I am doing research for 10 hours a week, on top of that I have additional requirements.

If your goal is 33, you need to get few 35’s on yout practice tests. Also, aim at taking it once. They are all coing to be considered, retake will not erase your original score. Consider that most pre-meds are in the same boat, doing research, having job, volunteering, Greek (some on board),…etc. Get used, it is much more in Med. School.
Actually, it works very well right after finals of very hard semester. D. regretted having 2 weeks in between (she waisted 2 weeks of precious free summer time), she said she should have scheduled few days after finals. it has helped because material was very fresh after finals.
they say that in average real MCAT is 2 points below your best practice and within 2 points of your ACT. That was exactly the case with my D’s MCAT score.
