HI all: I’m going to be a freshman at Northeastern in the fall as part of the University Scholars Program, and I want to get people’s opinions (and find out what other Scholars are doing) as to whether or not I should live in a section of IV specially designated for Scholars only, or just room in IV with the regular Honors people.
I can see both sides of the choice, but knowing what others are doing could be helpful haha.
Glad to know i’m not the only one that’s unsure!
I opted to live in the ‘scholars designated’ area but I might change this. Does anyone know if living in this special area will decrease your chances of getting a single?
Speaking as someone who lived in IV this past year in what was sort of the unofficial Scholars floor (no official designation, but there was a heavy concentration of Scholars all put near each other)… I would say opt to intermix with all the Honors kids. I’m not a scholar, but my roommate and suitemate were. If you want to be involved with that program, it’s super easy, and it seems like you get to know your fellow scholars pretty well regardless of whether or not you live next door to them due to a number of special excursions/retreats/events. So I think I personally would choose to not live in the Scholars-only section, just because it’s a way to meet more people you might not have otherwise; casts a wider net.
To above, I doubt it would reduce the chance of getting a single, the singles are plentiful.
