Scholars Housing

I was accepted for Fall 2010 and CP Scholars. I know that you need to submit your housing request form ASAP in order to ensure you don't end up in a triple, but does that apply to Scholars kids too? I put down Public Leadership on my Interest Inventory and know that if I get into that program I'll be in Centreville, so is it as big a deal for Scholars students to respond quickly?

I’m doing the same program in Scholars! I’m waiting on a few other schools before I for sure go to UMD, and I’m sure theres a lot of other people in that situation. I wouldn’t worry about being tripled just yet. Also, I know you decrease your chances if you choose your own roommate. My bf goes to UMD and didn’t confirm until mid April. He chose a roommate from school and they’re in a double in Ellicott.

Centreville will have flex triples and quads too. Scholars has another issue in the fact that they have dedicated dorms, thus, they have limited room. They only invite X amount of students to participate in the program, but UMD will not know how many of them will matriculate which makes it difficult to determine how quickly you should respond.

When DS lived in Centreville, there were 2 rooms on his floor (the guys side) that were made into a flex, one was turned into a triple and one turned into a quad.

I think you are fine to wait until mid-April, but you start to push it when you wait until May.

All right. I was thinking of putting in my deposit after I find out whether or not I got the program I want, and if I change my mind after hearing from other schools, I can deal with losing the deposit. Thanks. :)

If I recall, you no longer have to pay the deposit until May 1st, so you can put your name on the list and pay the deposit later. Call housing to verify that though, because they could have changed the regs.
