I don’t mean to sound snobby or biased or anything with this posting but I am applying to The Ohio State Scholars Program (one of my top choices) and I notice that there are mandatory housing requirements for the Politics, Society, and Law Ohio State Scholars Program (first choice). All admitted applicants who accept the bid to the program are required to live in the Haverfield House in North Campus.

Now, I’ve heard stories about North Campus and personally, I’m more of a party-goer who still does well in school and based on the reviews and what I’ve heard I’d rather live on South Campus. However, I will end up doing the Scholars program because academics > partying so basically what I’m trying to ask is…

Will living in North Campus housing affect me negatively socially if I intend in partying/going out 2-4 times a week?

Thank you for the help! I really appreciate it.

North Campus is that same as south campus when it comes to partying, the only difference is that South campus is majority freshman while north campus is majority upperclassmen (who are more grade minded). It’s not like North Campus people can’t go to the parties in south campus, or vice versa, and the parties are off campus house parties anyway, not dorm parties, so it doesn’t matter either way. North Campus dorms are closer to the business/engineering/architecture classes and have air conditioning and private bathrooms, which is why I would rather go there.

I’m applying to scholars for business, which major are you applying to?

I’m applying for the Politics, Society, and Law Scholars program. I am really interested in politics and whatnot, but I just want to make sure my social life won’t be too adversely affected.

In my opinion the scholar program would only stregthen my social life. You’d be rooming with people who are as interested as you in politics, which would help you make friends with people, compared to a dorm where you might be a poly sci major and your roommate is a PE/Weightlifting major. Your social life is what you make of it, just as everything else in college is, don’t forget that.

I’m planning to double major in Business/Political science btw, and I’m 90% sure I’ll be at OSU next year, is OSU your first choice?

OSU is lookin like a strong first choice if i get National Buckeye and get into scholars. Other top choices are Maryland and Wisconsin (I live in Maryland).
