Scholarship amount in acceptance letter - Question

My D received her acceptance letter today. Based on the info on South Carolina’s website, she falls between the criteria for the McKissick and Cooper scholars award. However, her letter merely stated that SC had awarded her a scholarship in the amount of more than 77k - the value of paying in state tuition (basically an OOS waiver). It did not name the scholarship she received, but online it matches the $ amount of Flinn. My question is: Is this their final scholarship award? If she’s accepted into the Honors College are they likely to award anymore? The only reason she thought SC was a viable option is because she fell within the stats for a higher scholarship.

Final awards go out in March. I think they look at total applicant pool (most scholarships not restricted to just honors) before finalizing the specific award. So… I think it depends on the strength of the applicant pool this year. What she has gotten is a “you get at least this much”. Maybe some others from last year will weigh in on if their final award went up. Or look back on last years threads in February and March.

If she is NMF, then Leiber is an automatic, stackable award.

Okay, thanks! Good to know. She is very interested in the HC, but the numbers don’t make sense without a bit more merit. I appreciate your response!

An acceptance to the HC will not add additional scholarship money. Scholarships are based on GPA and test scores.

^^unless invited to top scholar weekends… Those definitely add more.
