Scholarship comparison?

Hi! I just got admitted to Tulane a few days ago with a merit scholarship of 27,000 a year (total of 108k). I have an act score of 31 and a gpa of 4.36 weighted, 3.38 unweighted with many extracuricular leadership activities and a job. I have 4 AP classes and have taken 2 college classes. I am highly considering Tulane. Is this scholarship better than most students get or is it an average Tulane merit scholarship? Also, by what standards do they give out scholarships?

@milleal3, I believe that the top merit scholarship this year is $32K, so $27K, although not the top amount, is very good. Maybe @TulaneBarry or @TulaneMaddie22 can speak to the different levels. Merit awards range from $5K-$32K. Scholarship awards are not an exact science. Of course, I imagine that they are based on standardized test scores, GPA, rigor of course load, APs, extra curriculars, talents, Why Tulane essay, Personal Statement and an overall impression of what you would bring to the TU community.
With your stats and high scholarship amount, I would encourage you to apply for the Paul Tulane Award and the Deans Honors Scholarship. Both of these offer full tuition and fees for the four years. I believe that there is a link to the applications on your acceptance page. You can also find information about these awards here: http://admission.tulane.edu/aid/merit.php

@jozuko - You are correct…Tulane’s partial scholarship ranges from $5,000-$32,000 per year, which means $32k is the highest for partial scholarships. With that being said, full tuition scholarships are technically the top merit scholarship, since it pays the full tuition of TU ($51k). Around 125 are awarded per year. For the most part, partial merit scholarships are based on GPA/test scores.

Once you receive your log in credentials for your Application Status Portal, you will see links that will allow you to apply to our full tuition scholarships. The Dean’s Honor Scholarship is project based, while the Paul Tulane Award is essay based. Both of these applications are due by December 5, which means you would have to apply for EA/ED in order to apply for these scholarships. As said in a previous post, both of these applications are free and therefore there is no harm in applying. I hope this all sums it up!

@jozuko thank you so much for your insight! ill definitely check out the options for full ride scholarships, but arent those saved for students with extremely amazing ACTs or 5.0 gpas?
@TulaneBarry Thank you! These posts were very very helpful.

@milleal3 Not necessarily! Especially with the Deans Honors Scholarship it is largely based on a creative project so while yes your grades/test scores would still be put into strong consideration the project is the main basis for the scholarship. You can find the prompt here http://admission.tulane.edu/aid/pdfs/Deans_Honor_Scholarship.pdf.

I would like to chime in: I am looking at different angle that is if anyone feels the scholarship is not enough, anyone also can look for outside scholarship and/or getting PT jobs (working the lab, becoming RA, etc). Every schools has a budget and also I have no knowledge based on aka the criteria for those scholarship. Just follow others who have given you the link for those scholarship etc.
