<p>springup - The $4k university scholarship is not typically one of the substitutes for the scholarship your son interviewed for, so I wouldn’t assume the worst. He’ll likely get one of the others (hopefully Pres, but possibly Deans or Directors) and also the University Scholarship. One thing to note is that if he gets Pres, the amount of the Univ. will go down to $2500. At least that’s how it worked last year; there’s a cap on the amount to which the University will supplement a big award like the Presidential. These are all merit awards, of course, so you may also get need-based aid if you applied for it.</p>

And, I was just awarded the Dell Scholarship.</p>

<p>It’s from the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation. You know, Dell, the computer company?</p>

<p>Well, to all their scholars, they give 20k and a free laptop. And I just found out this morning that I’m one of the scholars!</p>
