Select one aspect of your background or one characteristic that reflects who you are, and write a one-page essay on how that aspect or characteristic will allow you to succeed as a student and contribute to the diverse community at ___

Ok so this is for a scholarship geared towards minority students. Does that mean this prompt is asking me to describe an aspect of my racial background and how it's affected my life, or just anything diverse, race aside. Like, I've attempted nanowrimo 3 times and have never successfully finished, or I'm allergic to the randomest things or just some unique thing about me. I don't know how I'd turn any of those into a decent essay, I really hate the diversity prompt.

Comments por favor?

write how your background affects your life. How is your social life affected, etc

I tend to think that if something sounds vague, which this does, it’s to give you more freedom. It’s definitely prompting you to talk about ethnic background, but it’s also giving you an out with that ‘or one characteristic’ thing.

I’m not sure I’d write about something like allergies, unless they have really affected your life, but don’t force it to be about race if that’s not what you want to write. This seems like a pretty flexible topic.

I’ve found some pretty helpful articles on [College Scholarships, Admissions & Online Courses Resource - CollegeToCareers.com](http://www.collegetocareers.com), maybe something there will be able to help you.
