Scholarship Ideas?

Hey,

Im a rising senior who goes to a prep high school in california. I'm not going to qualify for financial aid and my grades are average (for CC standards), but the one thing going for me is that I have founded a very successful business. Anybody know of any scholarships that I could apply for? Oh, and im mexican-american. Thanks!

There are alot of scholarships that are specific to hispanics. I would concentrate on those first.

If your grades are average, then I would stay away from most fastweb scholarships except for horatio alger. I would try local scholarships instead.

You should pay attention to schools that offer merit scholarships. To be competitive for those (with your "average" grades) you should look at schools that are lower in the rankings than you might otherwise be shooting for. On college web sites, usually under financial aid, they often list their merit scholarships and the criteria for them. There is more information on the Parents Forum.

How do you locate local scholarships? Do you just ask them or what? Sorry, Im really new to this whole scholarship thing

If you live in California, you really just need to sit down with your guidance counselor. They would have all of the information you need for sure.
