My son was informed he has a interview soon for a scholarship he applied for. Can someone tell me what that is like? Has anyone interviewed and then not received any money? I take it that this is a good sign if they want to meet him.

it obviously is a good sign but i really don't know what they are going to ask. i also applied for a scholarship and they sent me a letter saying they wanted to interview me as i was chosen among 5 other students who have the chance of getting one of the awards, so yes, i think it's good. good luck to your son!

My son has had two different interviews for scholarships. Mainly questions about his coursework in high school, his plans for college, his goals. There were several students that interviewed. One he knows that he did not get but the other won't be announced until our awards assembly.

So it's not a sure thing. I was hoping it meant that they had picked him and just wanted to meet him first. Thank you for responding.

Well, it really depends on the scholarship I would say. It is the same with "finalist" letters...makes you think that you are in but you may have a ton of competition still at that stage, or maybe you have a super chance at getting. Maybe post the scholarship name and ask people more specifically about that particular scholarship, you might find someone that has previous experience with that scholarship.

It's a local Rotary Club scholarship. It also may be more than one scholarship and many high schools. The kids are never told much through their high schools. I think he has a good chance.

Since it is local, he probably has a very good chance. Good luck!

i was intereviewed.....and did not receive money.

I've been to 6 interviews in the past 2 weeks. Half the time they're rude and half the time they're friendly. You never know how they go usually. I gotten one and not received one so far.
