Hello! I just wanted to get a thread up and going for the merit-based scholarship notifications. I applied for the Presidential Scholarship in Art. I am aware that the chances of receiving a scholarship from Wake Forest are slim, but there is always hope [-O<
Has anyone heard anything yet or know when semifinalists were notified in the past years for the different scholarships?
Congrats, globallerner46. My son hoped to be a theatre finalist, but we haven’t heard anything, so I’m guessing it’s not to be. But just FMI, did you hear via email or snail mail?
Wake Forest says that merit is typically given to students who are in the top 1% of their HS class and who have test scores in the top 1%. They also look strongly at leadership. I am quickly learning that there are other factors that determine who the top schools give their money to- and this is fine as it’s their right to spend their money as they see fit. They may be looking at geographic diversity, etc. I also heard from somebody ( this may or may not be true- who knows) that Wake tends to give the merit to kids from North Carolina. Does anybody know of a student who actually received one of Wake Forests academic scholarships? I know that less than 3% of applicants receive one. I would like to know if my daughter has any type of chance because if not, she is not going. She has already been accepted to schools she loves that come in at less than $60,000. I am wondering when students receive the email inviting them to interview- I would imagine it has to be soon.
