Hey! I’m also waiting to hear from UF so I extended my scholarship offer until May 1 – it gives you the option to do so if you just press the extend button. If you do not extend then your daughter will have 30 days to accept.
Just out of curiosity, how many people who have received scholarship information already are in-state versus out-of-state. I am still hopeful that maybe we have not heard yet since we are out-of-state.
in state here
in state
I was wondering the same thing!
I know they are just starting to release scholarship information. But, do you think it would help if my son contacted the financial aid/scholarship office to see if he is a potential candidate for a scholarship? My son wants to attend UCF so if he gets any amount of money, he will commit. We are out-of-state so any money would help close the gap between what we would pay for an instate school.
I have found Financial Aid to be pretty unhelpful, but it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try. Just don’t tell them you’ll settle for pennies!
Knights Achievement here. I am reading it correctly that it is an in state waiver right?
We recd Knights Achievement Award notification. Have no idea how much it is though. We are out of state…Is this a decent award? Compared to the Pegasus ones? DS has a 1340 SAT and 4.3 gpa with 5 AP, I think 3 DE classes and a few CLEP credits and community college credits as well.
It is worded strangely on the website. I originally took it as in state tuition but after doing more research it seems can be up to in state tuition but most people seem to report 10-11k per year in the past.
YES thank you for saying that! UCF got my state residency wrong and they have sent my info to everyone else instead of just answering my emails that i’ve sent multiple times to fix my residency and now I even got an in state scholarship when im not even in state!
My D received Knight’s Achievement as well and am hoping it means in-state rates. Maybe a letter will be sent to make the $$ amounts and cost of attendance clearer.
Report back about Knight’s Achievement if you find out more–if always equal to in-state rate or only “up to” in-state rates and when we would find out.
So does anyone know if you got in for Summer are you pretty much not getting any $$? Trying to getting a better understanding of UCF process.
And do you have to fill out some general scholarship application?
There is no additional application for scholarship. If you applied for Fall, but were offered Summer, chances are your stats are too low for scholarship. A couple of years ago 1290 SAT was the lowest score for scholarship and you had to have over a 4.0 recalculated UCF GPA. Some above that got nothing.
Well that’s stinks. Mine has already gotten decent merit from other schools with her stats. This will make the decisions pretty easy
We are in the same boat. My son was accepted for the fall and his stats are above the 1290 SAT and 4.0 GPA and we have not been offered any scholarship money. Every other school he has been accepted at has offered merit. We are out-of-state and can’t afford the $33,000/year. We already have one in college. My husband and I both graduated for UCF and my son has always wanted to go to UCF as well. So, now it looks like we will have to go with his second choice. So bummed!
One thing many do not understand is that your “weighted GPA” is not your “UCF Weighted GPA.”
UCF recalculates weighted GPAs, using only those core courses required for graduation from a Florida high school. So, non-core and elective AP/Honors classes taken are not factored into your “UCF Weighted GPA.” That results in a lower weighted GPA than your school records show.
Do you know what classes and how they weight them? I am assuming they only calculate the math, science, English. Social Studies and maybe foreign language like other schools are doing. I knew the electives would not favor in. And if so, do they give extra weight like a .5 more for honors and AP? Because if that is the case, then my son is over a 4.0.
I’m not sure on the specific courses, but it’s Googlable (if there is such a word!).
UCF awards .5 for honors and 1.0 bonuses for AP – I believe with a requirement that he made B or above.
