I had a question regarding merit scholarships. I’ve seen that there’s a possibility of getting bumped up to a higher merit scholarship. How would this happen? I would think that I would have to initiate this, but what would be the proper timing for this?

Dear Dad,

In order to receive one of the top two merit scholarships at SC it is necessary to have an interview during an EXplore session on campus. This is an opportunity for students to tour the campus, interact with professors and explore what SC has to offer. It is also the time for the interviewing panel to meet the potential recipient of one of these highly competitive scholarships.
There are students who have the ability to “shine” in this sort of interview situation. Their academic background, personality, service, accomplishments, talent, desire to attend SC, or other factors are so compelling the panel determines the individual

Parents have no part in the interview process. There are relatively few seniors who will receive the higher scholarship after the interview. It is an honor to be selected to interview for either of these scholarships out of a record breaking merit applicant pool of 22,000 highly qualified students. Total applications for freshmen admission to SC was 38,000.

'Hope you senior has a great experience at EXplore.
