Has anyone won scholarships from McGill. If so, what value? What was your high school average? Extra-curriculars?

hello there

I , unfortunately :( was not a scholarship winner, I applied for a major scholarship. The competetion is extremely tight, Im sorry but i dont know how many are awarded.
As for me I had a lot of extra curriculars and my average was probably about a 91. No matter how you stand, though, I would suggest applying for one.

I applied this year for my Major Scholarship. I won the $5000 renewable and entrance scholarship and they are still reviewing my file for the $10,000 renewable and entrance scholarship. I attended an American high school. I moved my junior year to a new school, so these stats are limited to only my junior year (since using my information from Senior year would be useless, except to show that I maintained my extra curricular, community service, and grades). I was ranked #4 in a class of about 250-300 in my junior year; out of 4.3, I had an unweighted GPA of about 4.1; I had 720 (Verbal) and 760 (Math) on the old SATs, which I took only once. The first time I took the new SATs I had 770 (Crit Reading), 690 (Math), and 630 (Writing). However, before I took the new SATs I had already taken the SAT II Writing, from which I had a 730. When I retook the new SATs my final scores were: 800 (Crit Reading), 740 (Math), and 720 (Writing). I am listing all these scores because Mcgill saw all these scores. In the end, my highest SAT score was 1560/1600 and 2290/2400. I had a 790 on the SAT II: Math 2 and an 800 on SAT II: Literature. I have a 5 on AP US History exam and I got a 740 on SAT II: US History.

I had about 8-10 extra curriculars per year and I was active in all. I was President of Debate Club (and participated in a competition), Chief Editor of my school magazine, and I had leads in the Mock Trial competition. In the application McGill likes to see all awards, etc., that you have received. I didn't have any spectacular awards. I took a course called Science Research and my experiments in that class helped me list some grants and an award. I listed everything - any summer programs or classes I took. Normal stuff. I felt my grades and SAT scores were more helpful since McGill doesn't ask anything about what's on this list, though I elaborated on them in my essay.

Hope this helped, and Good Luck,
