<p>Hi, I'm in the middle of filling out my application for Berkeley as a prospective freshman student, and I've just noticed the scholarship section. I wanted to know - would it reduce my chances of getting in by indicating my interest in a scholarship? I don't really need one, but it doesn't seem to make a difference, so should I just apply for one anyway? Basically I don't really want it to affect my chances of admission, so if it will, then I won't apply for a scholarship.</p>

<p>No, it won’t affect your chances of admission. The entire purpose of scholarships is to help deserving students, not to filter out the ones that deserve/need money.</p>
