Should I apply to Alumni Scholarships?

UCB is my first choice but I don't think I will get in,my stats are not perfect but my essays were good and I am an interesting person ( i dont know if that matters)
I keep getting emails inviting me to apply to the alumni scholarships, but I heard that getting an invitation to apply doesn't mean anything and that everyone who applies to Berkeley gets the same email.
Should I apply to the scholarships?
Thank you, and I'm sorry if this question has been asked before.

Im in a sort of the same situation. I got the supplement from berkeely and filled it out. Now im debating whether or not to apply for the scholarhsips. In my opionion i think that i will and so should you just in case. Most cases the questions they ask for these scholarhsips could be switched with another scholarship oppurtunity from another school.

No point applying until you know you got in.

I didn’t get the supplement, that’s why I think I’m not going to get in. At least you know that your application is being reviewed. I just think that mine went straight to the “reject pile”, but I can’t really be sure :/.

I agree but the application deadline is February 24…

Is everyone who applied to UC Berkeley get the scholarship email?
I didn’t receive any scholarship email from UC Berkeley, does that mean I am in the rejected pile? sigh… I just hope I can get in UC Berkeley

No, not all 40,000+ applicants got the scholarship email. That would be insane. I’m not sure what the criteria was. Someone told me that anyone who applied and had over a 3.5 got the scholarship email but that would be every applicant. I can’t imagine anyone with a GPA below 3.5 bothered to apply to CAL. So, again, I don’t know what criteria was used. Maybe it is to anyone who completed the FAFSA and sent it to CAL???

^I didn’t complete Fafsa nor did I apply for financial aid, but I still got the email.
