Does anyone know of anyone who got the full ride scholarship to Michigan last year? I'm wondering what kind of stats, activities, etc they look for to win the scholarship.

um..i know someone that did..don't know if it's what you're talking about though..also might have been financial aid..but i wouldnt' be surprised if he got it

when did he know that he got it? right after his acceptance or sometime in april?

i actually have no idea sorry

I'm a freshman at u of m's engineering school who got a scholarship to come here. It's out of the engin school and it's called the engineering scholarship of honor. It's a sweet thing because not only do they give you cash (i'm in state, so they gave me $8 K a year...i hear the out of staters got $15K), but they hold a meeting to introduce all of you to each other, so you know who's smart in your classes. Even better, they hook you up with the person who funded your scholarship so you can meet them and get even more opportunities. They have yet to do this though...they just say that they will. Also, if you are ever in deep ***** like i was once, go to the scholarship office and get advice. They give the best advice and call anybody who can help you out. I suppose you guys want my stats from high school.

1 feeder school to u of m....north farmington in MI

SAT 800/710 m/v SAT II 800 2c, 640 wr they dont consider sat II tho
ACT 32 E 34 S 35 M 34 R 26
GPA 3.98
Finished math thru calc 3 in HS...could have gone through diff eq but scheduling sucked
Crappy essays...i wrote them all in 2 hours
rank 25/325 (when you don't weight the GPA and an A- is the same as an A or an A+, then getting only 1 B in HS will mess your rank up)
bunch of math awards in high school...i can't even remember them all

Basically, i'm nothing special. The decision was based solely on rank, gpa, and test scores. You wanna ask me more, email me at yosty@umich.edu. If you don't do the email thing, my SN is eljefe248. You wanna call and ask me questions (248) 425-5001. i'll answer all your questions. Especially you chatterjoy. Chatterjoy, you might know who i am, and if you do, don't mention this to anyone. I don't really like people to know about this sort of thing (yes i know it's a public forum). I figured that people from metro detroit probably wouldn't be on this thread. If you're from WB, though, then i'm more than happy to give some advice. If you guys are LSA, then good luck getting scholarships. The Bell scholarships are huge, but they only give them to the top 50 applicants. you gotta be freakin brilliant. A girl in my class got one. Nice girl, huge on school and not much else. Any questions, just contact me and ask. I will probably not check this post for a while.

How many people receive the scholarship every year? And is it harder to get if you are out of state?

they don't care if you're in or out of state. the scholarships come out of people's pockets. it's purely merit based.
