I have an ACT score of 30 (23 on math, 32 on both English and Reading, 33 on Science, 10 on Writing) and a GPA of 3.70. With this I have a full tuition scholarship to the school I have decided to go to (Auburn University), but I want to find scholarships to cover the rest of my costs (dorm, books, etc.). My problem is that I moved from a very large school in ninth grade to a very small school in tenth grade. I was not involved at all in tenth grade and there wasn't much to find to get involved in my Junior and Senior years (I am currently a senior). Most scholarships also say that either my ACT score is too high or my mother makes too much money ($60,000 a year. But since my parents divorced and various other things happened she declared bankruptcy, so things are tight to say the least). The ones that I can apply for all rely more on community involvement and things like that, and I know I am lacking in those (not by choice! but that's how life happens sometimes). So I was wondering what scholarships you guys know of to apply for? I am willing to write and I am a pretty good writer, so I don't mind that. I also go to a very small rural school if that helps. Thank you!

Are you instate for Auburn?

You’re not likely going to find private scholarships to cover room and board for four years. You need to talk to both your parents to see how much they’ll contribute for college.

an ACT of 30 gets full tuition at Auburn?

^^^

Only if you’re instate.

OOS students don’t get full tuition…not even close. An ACT 30 gets about 1/4 tuition. An ACT 36 only gets about 2/3 tuition

You will be able to borrow $5.5K yourself as a freshman. How close does that get you to covering books, room and board? Then you can get a job which you should do NOW so you can accumulate the $ before college starts.
