I was just wondering, does anyone know what the max Rice provides as Financial Aid and Can anyone give me more details on it and some scholarships?

• We meet 100 percent of a student's financial need based on financial aid eligibility
• For families with less than $30,000 in total income, we meet all need with grants and work study - no loans
• Our graduates go on to graduate school or enter the workforce with less than half the debt of graduates of Ivy League schools

ahhh, thanks, and what were their stats like? I'm interested ^_^

I think their screen names are shrivats and k_twin. You can look them up in the Stats Profiles or by doing a search.

okay, i have another question
my dad is the only one working in my house and he's only making 50k a year. My mom doesn't work and is currently sick/bed-ridden/ill. So we have alot of medical bills and debts, etc. Do you think Rice might consider me for financial aid?
thanks!

Definitely. We make almost twice that and get good financial aid. They stay very close to the FAFSA formulas, although if you have a lot of home equity they do take that into account (but cap amount used.) Go to one of the FAFSA financial aid online formulas and have your parents plug in your asset, income, taxes etc. numbers. You'll get a very close estimate of what Rice thinks you can contribute. They will also take into account excessive medical costs, etc - but you have to contact the financial aid department once you are admitted to negotiate that.

thanks anxiousmom!
can you give me a rough estimate of how much she got approximately per year/semester?

Nope. If you go to the Rice website you will get a VERY GOOD estimate of your financial aid package. You need to do your homework, and plug your parent's info into one of the FAFSA and IM financial aid calculators. http://www.collegeconfidential.com/financial_aid/efc/index.htm. That will give you your EFC. Everything above that amount Rice will cover like this: $1800 work study, $1700 student loan (since your parents make between $30 and $60,000 a year), everything else grant.
You are a rising high school junior, so you have plenty of time to do your research. Some schools are eliminating student loans, and I'm thinking that it is possible that Rice might do this at some point in the future.

Can you get merit-based scholarship money at Rice if you're a Sophomore or a Junior--i.e., can you earn more money later on, even if you earned little or none as an entering Freshman?
