So, I was looking at the different scholarships for continuing students for Marshall students and I read that Marshall gives out scholarships to high achieving students. I was wondering what the average scholarship amount was since I won't be receiving any financial aid for this year.

Also, what are some other scholarships that continuing students can receive? I read on here that continuing students can still receive the trustee/ presidential scholarships. Is that true? Are there any other half/full tuition scholarships that continuing students can receive?

yohaha,

Please check my list of scholarships for continuing students posted here on 5/31/10. It is still not completed, but I will post more as I research the information.

Although Marshall may not list all their scholarships, there are many awarded. My brother attended the Marshall Scholarship Luncheon last year and sent me the program. Some of the scholarships were for incoming students, but there were three pages of scholarhips noted on the program. You may be able to call Marshall for a list of the scholarships.

Some of these were for one year only. There were scholarships for leadership as well as academic scholarships. A few had specific requirements.

Here is a phone number for Marshall: 800 281 8616 .

Trustee, Presidential and Dean’s Scholarships are for four years providing:

The students takes the required amount of units per semester.

The students maintain the grade point average needed to renew the scholarship.

There may be other requirements, but those are the two important ones.

As I understand it the above scholarships are awarded upon admission.

Thanks for all the great info!

I was also wondering about summer internships. I know USC has a lot of great connections and I’ve always wanted to intern in Tokyo or London. I saw that USC has an internship program in London but it is $18,000! There is a $3,000 scholarship but that still does not make it that less expensive. Are there cheaper alternatives to interning abroad or other programs that offer internships to students at a lower cost?

Yohaha,
There are alternatives to summer internships. Marshall offers exchange programs as well as study abroad programs. For the semester abroad programs your financial aid can be applied. You will need to check with Marshall if financial aid can be used for expenses in the other programs. There MAY be scholarship aid for these special programs.
