Planning to major in English/Linguistics

I just need to know about any scholarships that could range for $100 to $10,000 to $50,000. Just anything that can help me.

I know that families like mine, which are really poor, can get lots of aid, but I need as much as I can get to assure that my mom doesn't need to pull too much money out of her pocket.

Some talents or hobbies I do include golf, piano/violin, drawing (more cartoonish/anime than realistic), music composition, writing, etc.

I'm Asian. I am 17 years old. I live in Washington state.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR GUYS' HELP! I appreciate it! <3

If your family is “really poor,” then how could your mom “pull too much money” out of her pocket?

Unfortunately most low-income students do not get a lot of aid (Ivies and similar are exceptions). Many “really poor” students can only get enough grants to pay for their in-state public school tuition and not much else (often no grants for room, board, books, travel costs, etc ). Some schools have some internal grant money to give (perhaps to highly desirable students that they want). You may be offered some loans to pay for some/all of those things, but those might need a co-signer.

Most times, scholarships are awarded by Math + CR SAT scores - in your case - SAT 1230. I can only think of a few schools that award good-sized scholarships for that SAT, but I think that you’ll still end up short of money since those schools don’t meet need.

Do you like any of your in-state publics? How about Western Washington U? [Western Washington University](http://www.wwu.edu/) You have some good schools in your state. Do any of them appeal to you?

However, others here might have some great ideas. :)
