scholarships, merit money, grants..

If a student starts the freshman year with not much merit $$, would it be possible to get merit $$, grants, or anything else that are not loans for sophmore and later years?? making the assumption that the student gets stellar gpa during the freshman year. I would like to know what are the options once you have committed to Syracuse. Thanks so much.

As far as I know, all of Syracuse's scholarships are given to ENTERING students (either freshmen or transfers) and that seems to be borne out by the info on the school's website. There may be some small scholarships available from specific departments, although I don't know of any specific ones.

I wouldn't count on getting merit money in later years if you were not offered any the first year, when SU is the most generous.

thanks worried-mom, It makes sense to allocate the merit $$ to entering students.
