<p>i just saw my financial aid letter for the 2011-12 school year (will be a sophomore) and it doesnt look so great and my family's efc is pretty low. how do you qualify for merit scholarships at cmu? do you have to apply for it? </p>

<p>There’s no new merit aid to continuing students-- an occasional named gift by current donors may pop into the package for a few thousand.</p>

<p>If the package is drastically different-- have a parent call and speak to your college’s financial aid rep to inquire why the substantial difference.</p>
