Scholarships

Did you receive any merit scholarships during college years?

I did not. My daughter did.

Not sure if this is what you are referring to, but my advice is to remember to apply for the school’s endowed scholarships every year/semester if your school has them. My D’17 is at a community college and has gotten a Foundation scholarship 4 out of 5 semesters. When we visited a university for D’19, we talked to a professor about an endowed scholarship for continuing theatre majors that was automatic based on GPA but the professor said many don’t even bother to apply.

If you mean during college but after freshman year, then yes, I did. I received a 10% (at the time) Alumni Scholarship.

Junior / Senior Scholarship – Awarded to rising sophomores and juniors pursuing a BS in engineering, math, or the applied sciences based on merit, need and personal skills. Any awarded funds are applied the year after the student has been selected for a scholarship.

Yes, ones you get during college. Usually it’s easy to find out about freshman year but you don’t hear much about these scholarships.

I don’t think they are common. Mine was a complete surprise!
