does anyone know if or what kind of merit scholarships NU offers? the website wasn't too helpful (very vague)
thank you

They started this year a program called the "founder's scholars", though that seems to be just a general "we want you" type of scholarship and its not widely publicized. They're a National Merit sponsor too (just gotm y notification of that today ^_^)

I think the Founder's Scholarship is kind of need-based? It's for students whose opinions could be swayed by a merit scholarship and who could use the money (from what I've heard, but I'm not sure sorry!)
And yes, they do give NM scholarships! Congratulations arbiter213!

yeah, founders scholarship is limited to middle class families i think

yeah, i'm pretty sure it's middle class families and i think but i can't be sure the average scholarship was like 13k a year? there's a thread on it somewhere around here

here you go, middle class families, average award of $6,200 a year:

oh i guess it's not too generous then huh?

thank you all for the information
incidentally do you know how much they give for National Merit?

i think national merit is its own, independent scholarship, isn't it?

and as to the generosity of the program, it's the first year they did it, i'm sure it will expand once they appropriate more financing

National Merit from NU ranges from 500 a year renewable to 2k a year renewable, depending on need.
