School asking for current grades, what does it mean?

I applied ED to Boston College and my counselor approached me today to let me know that BC emailed her and asked for my current grades (Not a mid-year report or first-quarter report). Could this be a good thing for my admissions?

As a whole, my application is very well rounded and on par with what the admissions committee is looking for. My EC’s are very unique and highly competitive but my GPA is below what they often accept. Could this be their way of checking to see if I can take the rigorous course load I selected for my senior year? (All AP’s - which is similar to what I’ve taken in previous years).

Thank you for any help you guys can provide!

It means that you are not an easy accept or reject. Unless that ask for grades from all.

At the very least, it means that your app is being considered despite your GPA. Not a bad thing, but maybe don’t buy the sweatshirt just yet, unless you want to.

It’s interesting, because what with coronavirus and virtual learning, it’s very hard to rate students. Poor performance can go along with teachers who haven’t been able to adjust to online or hybrid, just as much as with students. For your sake, I hope your grades are currently good. You must have just finished first quarter.
