Longchamp bags

OK so I've heard a lot of girls saying that they carry their Longchamp totes to class. What do you actually put in it? Bc they're not exactly cheap and I'm kinda hesitant to throw like, a laptop, in mine bc I don't want to break the handles or something. Do you ever bring your laptops/books to class, or do you just bring light stuff like pens and notebooks?

They're definitely much more durable than you would think. I have a Herve Chapelier (basically the same material as a longchamp, around $100 so a little cheaper) and mine has been through severe thunderstorms, snowstorms, bad days...everything...and it's lasted through it and still looks brand new. I've carried my huge orgo and bio books at the same time, as well as a laptop and the handles have definitely withstood it all. I pretty much just use it for everything. When it comes to a laptop, I just throw mine in a sleeve and it's all good.

I really wouldn't worry about quality at all...they are bags that are well worth the money. I was hesitant myself, but now I'm so glad I have one because it was just so much easier than alternating between a smaller tote and a backpack.

Which one do you use? I've been thinking about getting the 925, but am not sure if it's the right size. Also, where did you buy yours?

the 925 is the one most people have...it's definitely big enough. There's a smaller one, which is about the size of a mini longchamp, and a bigger one which I think is just too big.

I got mine at one of the boutiques listed on their site in my hometown, but I believe Uniquities in Chapel Hill (on Franklin Street) still sells the bags.

Nordstrom carries a limited selection of sizes and colors. You can also order them online directly from Longchamp (some bags are on sale there, too).

how big of a backpack/tote bag will you need? I have my backpack from high school, the old school jansport one. will i be able to use that?

I'm thinking LL Bean tote bag myself :)

wow, loveduke22, that's impressive...I never even considered putting textbooks in it. Then again, the handles on your bag look a bit sturdier than those on my tote. Thanks for the info!

I'd say a jansport would be fine. Unless you plan on putting in 8 hour nights at the library with 4 huge science textbooks, I really don't see a need to go out and spend a gajillion dollars on a new bag. I myself spent $80 for a northface and it sits in the corner of my room, only making an appearance for really special occasions (ie trips home for my laptop).

we'regoingdown_swinging...they're stronger than they look...I swear! I've seen girls with longchamps and it looks like the straps are about to break, but they hold. They're definitely not a cheap (quality) product.

LL Bean totes are popular as well...and as with LL Bean...always great quality!

I love my LL Bean backpack. I've used it all of high school and all the time at Duke, it was great. The only thing I wished it had was waterproofing.

ive definitely carried my laptop (granted, it's a powerbook so it's not all that heavy) in my longchamp with some notebooks and it's been fine. i rarely get textbooks, let alone carry them, and hardly carry my laptop to class with me since i don't like taking notes on it. the bags are more durable than you'd think. honestly for class, i just bring notebooks and whatever reading i had due for that class.
