School deals on laptops

does anyone know if upenn sells any laptops, and if so, do they give us better deals b/c we’re students? can anyone find a link for me? thanks!

You'll get plenty of info on this come mid-summer, I promise.. And yes, penn has amazing deals on laptops, especially IBM's. Last year they offered a $3000 laptop for $1900.. I have it an it's awesome. It also comes with the best warranty IBM offers (3 year coverage with accidential damage coverage (ie. you spill something on your laptop and it fries, they give you a new one) and next business day on-site repairs (something goes wrong, you call them and they send a repair person to your dorm the next business day to bis it)). I would definitely suggest buying it through the school :)

Yes, Penn has a deal with Dell, directly. I just ordered my laptop which would have cost $1300.00+, I got it for $900.00. Go on to Campus Express and log in with your PennKey http://campusexpress.upenn.edu/

Once you login, click on "My New Computer". It will take you through several screens. It will eventually give you a link directly to Dell's website, but when you go to Dell's page, it will say the University of Pennsylvania after the Dell logo. You just order what you need from Dell and they take the discount off at you checkout. If anyone is having trouble locating the dell like, send me a PM, I will walk you through it.

Thanks for the information, Thomas. :)

yea thanks so much u guys

So when does the back-to-school sale start? June?

yes, usually june 1st...they start shipping around july 1st

this isnt about laptops, but it is computer related...
my friend got a free usb thing-a-majig from her school... u kno the ones u carry around on ur keychain? it's got the college name on it... sleek and sweet... just wondering... does penn have this at the computer store? hehe, i cant but help get all penn stuff... ^_^

oh i remembered... they're called flash drives!!!! lol wow im an idiot...and goin to penn... >.<

they sell them, but you're better off getting one at a place like best buy or office max.
i got an iPod shuffle, which doubles as my flash drive. pretty cool

The computer sale is now available through campus express.
Penn is offering 2 IBM desktops and 2 IBM laptops. Last year they offered dell desktops, but I guess they switched to all IBM's.
I have an IBM laptop that I purchased through Penn last year....it's loaded, and it rocks.

that's the sale? just 4 products?

they're the recommended systems. you can also buy discounted computers through other retailers...dell, apple, etc.

I second that the IBM from last year rocks, and this one looks like it rocks more (if they're selling the one that they have on the main page). I work at Best Buy and can tell you, yo'ure not going to get anything better for any cheaper (and the warranty that comes with is the best warranty you can get.. next day repairs (they come to you.. to your dorm.. the next day) AND it covers accidential damage (a MUST at school..) Go with getting from penn.. you won't be dissapointed!

one more thing (you can prob tell i love my IBM i got through penn...)
my battery was not holding its charge fully, so i called IBM and through my warranty they sent me a brand new one....it got here in less than 16 hours. you can't beat their warranty/service...a must have when you're in college. my roommate spilled water on his laptop last semester and ruined his keyboard. but he didn't have a warranty and couldn't use his computer for about 2 weeks.
