School is requesting w-2 information and I lost it not sure what to do.

I can’t find my w-2 I went to the IRS and requested a 2014 tax transcript but my college won’t take it in fact none of the people at the financial aid desk even bothered to look at it. They told me I need a tax wage transcript which IRS doesn’t have an option for that so i’m at a loss.:/.

It’s called a Wage and Income Transcript.

Do you have a final paycheck from that employer? I lost my daughter’s w-2 from the University (and I really lost it, not her) and just sent the final paystub which the school accepted. I had her other w-2 and her tax returns, so it was clear that the amount claimed as wages was #1 W-2 plus the amount on the last paystub (a very small amount) I think you can also request another w-2 from that employer.

You can also try asking your employer for a copy of your W-2

Yes I got a duplicate from my employer once.

My former employer went out of business and I did not receive a W-2 from them. I contacted IRS and they sent me a letter and form to fill up that can substitute W-2. That was what I used for FA office verification.

Here is a link to IRS form 4506-T. Be sure to check the box next to #8 to receive your W-2 transcripts. You can request multiple years at the same time (#9).
