School List for Business??

Rising Junior here looking to start a list for some considerable schools. From NC, decent ECs, 4.0 GPA, and will be taking ACT in the fall. What schools should I be looking at that are prestigious for my major. Planning on majoring in Business/Econ/Finance.

Current List (in order)
1 Duke/UPenn (lol Just applying for fun)
2 UNC Chapel Hill
3 UVA (Reach)
4 Georgetown (Reach)
5 NC State (Safety)
6 Emory

Looking especially for some targets for Investment Banking. Not only Bulge Bracket but other firms too.

Rising junior? That’s a summer term. Are you a sophomore?

@merc81 Yes

@merc81 Yes

In no particular order: Ivies, Stanford, MIT, USC, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Vanderbilt, UMich, Amherst, Williams, Northwestern, UT Austin, Rice, Boston College, Indiana University, Notre Dame, Carnegie Mellon, WashU.

For the intended study of economics itself, these analyses from IDEAS can be useful: “US Economics Departments”; “Economics Departments at Liberal Arts Colleges” (available online).

For IB you need to go to the following schools in the list below:

Here is the list
Super Top-tier: Harvard, Wharton
Top-tier: Duke, Dartmouth, Columbia, Cornell AEM, Princeton.
Second Tier: MIT, Stanford, Yale, UChicago, Williams, Cornell non-AEM, UPenn CAS, Brown
Third Tier: UMich Ross, Georgetown, Northwestern, Amherst

To get in one of these you need to do the following:
To get in - max # of AP classes - 15+ with 4/5 score.
Be active in ECs. 20+ hrs
Leadership roles. If you are familiar with ACAP, RYLA, etc will help.
Start a High School - Club as president, etc

UNC has an excellent business educatiom if not a “program”. In state is a bargain, and you have a much better shot.

are you interested in LACs? what about claremont mckenna?

A number of the schools listed in posts #4 and #6 above do not have undergraduate business schools so be careful. IMO until you get some standardized tests it is too early to come up with a college list. If you want here is a good list of undergraduate b-schools to go over in the meantime. You can start researching some ones that interest you.

@bk1366 Id put Emory at tier 3 too

@gormar099 not particularly interested but don’t mind as long as its a target. Thanks for commenting

NYU has a great UG biz school. It really helps if you’re trying to get onto wall street

For Wall Street UPenn Wharton & NYU Stern send the most by far and then UMich Ross, Harvard, & Cornell.These 5 are the heaviest represented and after them some notable schools with excellent recruiting are:

UVA, Haas, Columbia, Duke, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Notre Dame
