Many of my friends last school year were awarded a scholarship at our Senior Awards Night, but now almost a year later after many ignored emails and phone calls that never really gave them information/resolved the situation, they never were awarded their scholarship money. What can we do and has anyone else experienced something like this? They rightfully deserved that scholarship, and there should be no reason as to why it is being withheld.
Maybe call the local newspaper?
When my foundation initially gave out scholarships, we asked the students where they had committed to for their fall semester. We then sent the money, in care of the student, to their university.
ABC University on behalf of “Fall Student”.
Our students claimed that they never were given credit for the monies our foundation sent. Yet, checks were cashed.
So, we resorted to calling the universities to find out what happened to the monies. The universities often stated that they didn’t have students with those names, but somehow the checks were deposited.
We then resorted to giving checks to the students directly, so that they could use the monies in whatever manner they needed. Less hassle and more convenient.
