I am a junior and I am interested in being Pre-Med when I go into college but I have also been writing plays for a few years and that is also something that I want to pursue. I know that the School of Drama has its own application and requirements for admission, but is it possible to be a part of the School of Drama and still be Pre-Med? I wanted to still keep the playwriting an option for me...thanks

You can't enter the School of Drama as an undergraduate. That said, Yale's "Theater Studies" major works out very well. They are well connected with the School of Drama and you will have opportunities abound to do stuff in theater. It seems like there is a play every day at Yale sometimes.

I know theater studies and pre-med majors, so you can do it. Just remember, pre-med isn't a major.

To expand on Ferny's post, I can't think of a better place where a person with a devotion to theatre arts could also prepare themselves for med school as well. Pre-med basically means including in your cirriulum classes that Medical Schools require as prerequisites. Yale College's requirements for you will be flexible to allow this in most any Major you choose -- whether thatre studies, History, Economics, Biology, CompSci, etc.

Why I praise Yale about theatre (and Ferny alludes to this) is that the environment for plays and shows is such a part of the fabric of campus -- and a huge part of that is done exclusive of the theater dept. Because there are so many talented people around and money to produce shows, there are constantly audition calls for everything under the sun all year long. Even if you decide not to major in anything theater related, you'll love the atmosphere there.

i'm not sure about theatre, but yale can offer you a great preparation for med school (very high med school acceptance rate)
