School of Hotel Administration

What criteria does the Hotel school look for?
According to previous posts on CC, the school focuses more on hospitality experience and less on the SAT and GPA scores. So is the school looking for applicants who interned or worked at hotels specifically or any work experience?

That could be true. But face it, its always a plus with SAT scores. Experience or interns are also another plus. you'll get ur chance to shine when u get into the interview. lucky u! only the college of hotel administration requires the interview :] anyways....if ur gunna talk to them in person its kinda wierd to shove them with your wonderful grades if they already know them. so scores are the first step and u just need other things, like i said, the expeerience. hold on....im digressing, aren't i? sorry...well....just to say , work experience is better than nothing. and i think the college of hotels will know that people cant really help out at hotels and such (even tho there are opportunities). SO, any work experience that requires that hospitality(etc.) will get you points and will compensate for no exeperience. woah....i talk too much hahha

did u check out: hotelschool.cornell.edu? shouldn't they have the info. there?

grades aren't everything. i know of people with 3.0 but a LOT of hospitality experience (not working at fast food/retail, but more like banquet coordinator at a local hotel, etc) that got in as a freshman. experience and the interview count for a lot more than you'd think when considering an "ivy league" school. that's why they have pretty low stats (although still high, just low compared to other cornell schools), but end up graduating some of the most successful people despite that!

interview and HOSPITALITY experience, hospitality and "having any dumb job" are different, are very important.
